The International Council of Coloproctology (ICCP) represents over 50 national and international societies of coloproctology.
The ICCP's primary activities relate to communication, standards, training, bowel cancer prevention programs and outreach. The Council holds workshops on these matters as well as fosters bowel cancer education by the annual provision of Fellowships and Travel Scholarships to individuals, and thereby other nations, to better standards of bowel cancer care around the world.
The Secretariat is hosted by the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
In recognition of the importance of bowel cancer throughout the world, the ICCP has included bowel cancer awareness and prevention as a permanent item on its program of worldwide activities.
Colorectal Surgeon and Bowel Cancer Australia Director, Graham Newstead AM, is the current Chairman of the ICCP.
Around 23 ICCP member countries have developed (or are developing) bowel cancer prevention programs.
